MAESTRAL WIND

Mošćenička draga is recognizable by the wind Maestral, refreshing southwest wind that occurs daily during the spring and summer period. Created during the stable anti-cyclonal weather by the differences in temperature between the mainland and sea, it starts to blow around 11 in the morning, reaches its maximum in the afternoon and always ends before the sunset (usually until 18 o’clock). In it's best version, it can reach up to 18 knots, accompanied by the small, gentle waves creates perfect conditions for windsurfers beginners in the morning / late afternoon hours and slalom / freeride riders in the afternoon.

Distance from the shore conditions
– 0m – 50m: Flat water with lighter wind, perfect for beginners.
– 50 m +: choppier water with stronger wind. Adequate for freeride, slalom and freestyle.

TRAMONTANA WIND

In early mornings from 5 to 9 am (depending on the sunrise time), Preluka bay (located 20 min. by car form Mošćenička draga), offers you northern Tramontana wind. Created during the stable anti-cyclonal weather by the differences in temperature between the mainland and sea, it starts to blow around 11 in the evening, reaches its maximum in the sunrise and lasts up to 3 hours after. This moderate (sometimes strong) thermal wind with it's power up to 25 knots, accompanied with the flat water creates perfect conditions for slalom, freeride and freestyle riders, as well as intermediate and skilled windsurfers. You’ll enjoy the magic of its sunrise moments!

JUGO WIND

Southeasterly Jugo wind blows in Mošćenička draga occasionally, during cyclone, and its most powerful during the autumn and winter periods. As the constant wind with the power up to 35 konts, accompanied with the high side-shore waves, it is appropriate for skilled freeride, slalom or wave riders. It can last for several days.

BURA WIND

Bura (Bora) is a colder northeast wind that blows in Mošćenička draga occasionally during the whole year, most powerfully in the autumn, winter and spring. Wind power up to 50 konts, accompanied with the strong gusts and medium to high on-sore waves provide good conditions for skilled windsurfers. It can last for several days.
